Funny language barriers...

Well about 2 days ago we met a family from Germany while having an AIM meeting at Sam's Cafe. They are building a ranch here and have been looking for a church home. We invited them to come and worship with us! We were all very excited. Now remember, they're from Germany. They speak spanish very well and a little bit of english, so to comunicate we both speak in our second language, which is Spanish.

Today Marco, the German, showed up at the church for our prayer time. He brought a young man who came with him to work on the ranch, his name is Harry. After our prayer time I started talking to Harry(in English because he doesn't know Spanish). He is from Finland. I overheard Harry and Marco talking and assumed they were speaking in German to one another. I didn't know what they spoke in Finland so I asked Harry what his native language was. He tells me Finish (sp?). Humm? So I asked if he can speak German. No, he says. So now I'm confussed so I ask him how he and Marco communicate. In Norwegian, he answers. What!

What a funny world we live in. And the funnier thing is when Chris & I, Marco & Harry are together we really have no common language, but can manage to communicate! Funny how that happens! Plus, none of us are even from Mexico! But we are all united on one thing, we long to worship and praise our Father, in whatever language we can!

When I was an aimer in DF we had neighbors who were chinese. they owned a great chinese resturant close to out apartment. We met one of them one day, Billy and Belinda were over watching a movie, the guy came in, sat down, and we all had a great converstation in Spanish. It was the wierdest thing, us being American, he was chinese and we were speaking spanish. It was great.
